Federal College of Education, Pankshin News Flash

The management of the college wishes to notify all JAMB candidates both NCE, and Degree that indicated Federal College of Education Pankshin as their 1st, 2nd or 3rd Choice and got the required cut – off point of 180 and above that there will be a POST- JAMB Examinations schedule as follows

Date: Friday 30th July 2010
Venue: School Premises
Time: 8:00am in the morning

Other qualified JAMB candidate both NCE and Degree with the cut-off point of 180 and above who did not select FCE, Pankshin as their 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice, but are now interested in coming to the college can also come and write the POST-JAMB Examinations for possible consideration for admission.

Those who filled the direct entry forms for both NCE and Degree programmes of the college are also invited for the POST-JAMB Examinations.

NB: All category of students coming for the POST-JAMB Examinations in the college on Friday 30th July, 2010 are notified that they are expected to pay the sum of N2,000 at the college bursary on or before Friday, 30th July, 2010.

PROFILE OF DANWANZAM E. GOTENG
Dean, School of Voc and Tech.
Emmanuel Goteng Danwanzam (BSc. Business Adimin, PGDE, MBA, ANIM, FCEN) was born in Bwarak, Pankshin Local Government of Plateau State in April 1961. He attended Holy Cross Primary School Pankshin from 1968 to 1974 where he obtained the first school leaving Certificate. From 1974 to 1979 he attended St. Joseph ’s College for his WASC Certificate. He proceeded to ABU Zaria, school of Basic Studies (SBS)from 1979 to 1980 for his IJMB. Between 1980 to 1983 he was at the institute of Administration ABU Zaria where he obtained his B.sc (Business Administration) in1983.

He was at the institute of education, ABU Zaria, from 1986 to 1987 for his Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). In 1998, he want back to ABU Zaria for his masters in Business Administration (MBA) which he obtained in 2000.

Mr danwanzam joined the service of FCE Pankshin in july 1989. he has held various positions of responsibility which includes head of Department, Business Education 1991 to 1996, 1998 and 2006 to 2007 .In October 2007 he was elected the Dean school of Vocation and technical Education and re-elected for a second tenure in September 2009. He is currently a chief Lecturer. He has published many scholarly articles in reputable journals and attented several conferences and workshops. He has also published books in areas of vocational and technical education, entrepreneurship and general business.

He is a member of several professional bodies such as

  • Associate member Nigeria Institute of Management (AMNIM)
  • Member Nigerian Association of Vocational and technical Educators (NAVTED)
  • Associate Member Nigerian Institute of Financial Management.
  • Fellow Institute of Corporate Executives of Nigerian (FICEN)
  • He is married with 5 children.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The School of Vocational and Technical Education formally started as a division of Business Studies when the academic units in the College were called Divisions with Departments such as Business Education, Home Economics and Fine and Applied Arts. During this time, Agricultural Education was under the Sciences. All the Departments in the Colleges were affiliated to Universities. The Federal Colleges of Education then, were called Federal Advance Colleges (F.A.T.C’s). FATC Pankshin was affiliated to the University of Jos.
With the establishment of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). And the harmonization of courses in all Colleges of Education in 1990, Divisions were reorganized and the name was changed to School of Vocational and Technical Education made of five Departments namely; Agricultural Science Education Department, Business education department, Fine and Applied Arts Department, Home Economics Education Department, and Technical Education Department.
The Dean is the academic and administrative Head of the School while Heads of Departments take charge of the various Departments.
The School of Vocational and Technical Education, being skilled based has over the years produced skilled man power for the economic and technological development of the country. The school has produced teachers in the area of Vocational and Technical subjects particularly at the Junior Secondary School level.

MISSION STATEMENT
To produce skilled technical and vocational man power for the economic, technological as well as educational development of the Nigerian society.
