Federal College of Education, Pankshin News Flash

The management of the college wishes to notify all JAMB candidates both NCE, and Degree that indicated Federal College of Education Pankshin as their 1st, 2nd or 3rd Choice and got the required cut – off point of 180 and above that there will be a POST- JAMB Examinations schedule as follows

Date: Friday 30th July 2010
Venue: School Premises
Time: 8:00am in the morning

Other qualified JAMB candidate both NCE and Degree with the cut-off point of 180 and above who did not select FCE, Pankshin as their 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice, but are now interested in coming to the college can also come and write the POST-JAMB Examinations for possible consideration for admission.

Those who filled the direct entry forms for both NCE and Degree programmes of the college are also invited for the POST-JAMB Examinations.

NB: All category of students coming for the POST-JAMB Examinations in the college on Friday 30th July, 2010 are notified that they are expected to pay the sum of N2,000 at the college bursary on or before Friday, 30th July, 2010.

THE COLLEDGE LIBRARIAN

  INTRODUCTION.


This strategic plan is a build up of the library’s previous strategy with modifications and provides a long-term framework for development covening a period of ten years i.e. 2008/2009 to 2017/2018. the plan is intended to advance information dissemination, intellectual advancement and life-long learning. This is all in support of the college’s strategic goals in teaching, learning, research and consultancy service.  The college library should be a catalyst that will foster a passion for reading and spark intellectual curiosity.

We are committed to meeting the information, social, leisure and recreational needs of the college community through the provision of responsive service.

2. OUR VISION

To support academic excellence through the provision of relevant information in both physical and electronic format mindful of the rapidly changing technological environment.

3.  OUR VALUE

        The college library values:

    1. being a vital part of the college educational programme;
    2. meeting the information, social and recreational needs of our users;
    3. delivering information in varied formats;
    4. innovation and responsiveness in service delivery;

4. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The goal and objectives outlined in this plan are intended to serve as a tool for stretching the college library to achieve its full potential.  The goals and objective include among others to:

  1. Acquire and provide information materials required for the academic programmes of the college
  2. Provide research information resources in consonance with the needs of the schools and research students
  3. Provide information resources for creation, leisure and for the personal self-development of our users;
  4. Encourage students’ life-long habits of good reading, inquiry and research;
  5. Provided study accommodation and develop the physical environment to become functional in meeting the varied needs  of our users.
  6. Provide protection and security for the library and the materials therein;
  7. Cooperate with other libraries at appropriate levels for the exchange of information resources.
  8. Solicits for aid and grant from individuals and other corporate organizations for better library service.

3.1.8  EVALUATION STRATEGY
1         Stock taking by library staff which includes statistics of the library, weeding of      stock, books lost or stolen etc.
2          NCCE monitoring team. This to be accomplished yearly.
3          annual staff by the college librarian.

      PLANNED STRATEGY FOR MODIFICATION

  1. Getting involved in active library cooperation with sister colleges of education
  2. Interacting with friends and philanthropists of the college library.
  3. Increasing the fees charged students as library fee and increasing over due charge fee of clientele.
  4. Recruiting competent library  professionals and Para professionals.
  5. Sponsoring library staff to improve their knowledge/education through in-service training attending conferences, workshops etc.
